Backstory
Nestled in the heart of West Green, Christ Church has a rich history. Over the years, the church has been a cornerstone for local residents, fostering a sense of belonging and spiritual growth.
As West Green evolved into a vibrant neighbourhood, Christ Church has remained dedicated to serving its congregation and the wider community through various outreach programs and initiatives. Today, it stands as a beacon of hope, welcoming all who seek connection, support, and guidance in their spiritual journey.
Our Mission
We are one family in Christ, led by the Spirit, discipling one another in West Green.

Our vision
We’re partnering with God to see the renewal of West Green through persistent prayer, selfless service, and deep-rooted faith.
Our values
ONE FAMILY
Together, we are one church family in Jesus Christ. We celebrate the fullness of God’s creation, welcoming people of every age, life stage, ethnicity, and tradition. With humility and love, we share our lives with one another, inviting God’s peace into the West Green community.
GENEROUS DISCIPLESHIP
We want to be deeply transformed by Christ, becoming like Him to extend His love to others. Whether our faith has been a lifelong journey or a recent discovery, we practise daily habits that strengthen our spiritual maturity through the power of the Holy Spirit.

Spirit Led
We want to adopt a posture of devotion and surrender, inviting the Holy Spirit to move us through worship, prayer, sacraments, and Scripture. We make space for His divine interruptions, following His lead rather than our own.
CREATIVE MISSION
We want West Green to experience all of God’s goodness, creatively serving the people we meet and pursuing His justice. We actively partner with God through acts of generosity, hospitality, and caring for His creation.

Our Beliefs
Having said that, here are some fundamentals that we gather around:
The Apostle’s Creed
The Apostles’ Creed is the foundational creed of Christian churches, dating from the 2nd Century. It draws a whole range of churches together into fellowship around the core beliefs of the Christian faith.
We believe in God, the Father Almighty, the Creator of heaven and earth,
And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord:
who was conceived of the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell.
The third day He arose again from the dead.
He ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty, whence He shall come to judge the living and the dead.
We believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic (universal) church, the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting.
The Nicene Creed
Similarly, the Nicene Creed was developed in the 3rd Century as a foundational statement of belief for early Christian churches across the Greco-Roman world:
I believe in one God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and of all things visible and invisible.
And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God,
begotten of the Father before all worlds;
God of God, Light of Light, very God of very God;
begotten, not made, being of one substance with the Father, by whom all things were made.
Who, for us men for our salvation, came down from heaven,
and was incarnate by the Holy Spirit of the virgin Mary, and was made man;
and was crucified also for us under Pontius Pilate;
He suffered and was buried;
and the third day He rose again, according to the Scriptures;
and ascended into heaven, and sits on the right hand of the Father;
and He shall come again, with glory, to judge the quick and the dead;
whose kingdom shall have no end.
And I believe in the Holy Ghost, the Lord and Giver of Life;
who proceeds from the Father and the Son;
who with the Father and the Son together is worshiped and glorified;
who spoke by the prophets.
And I believe in one holy catholic (universal) and apostolic Church. I acknowledge one baptism for the remission of sins;
and I look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come.
Amen.
Anglican Liturgy
The Anglican Liturgy presents a beautiful theology of the church, that is both broad, poetic and thorough - covering all aspects of our lives and theological experiences. Have a look through the various liturgical rites here.
Charismatic Evangelical
Belonging to the Charismatic Evangelical tradition means we place an emphasis on a few key features of the Christian faith, that other traditions may not emphasise in the same way. For us, this looks like prioritising:
- The Cross and Resurrection of Christ
- Central to our faith is the belief that Christ died for our sins on the cross, and rose from the grave - entering into new life. In Baptism we participate in this death and resurrection, rising to new life with Christ and entering into life with Him.
- The Holy Spirit
- As Christ takes his heavenly throne at the right hand of the Father, He sends His Spirit to us to empower us and live within us. The Spirit dwells within all believers, and meets with us in special moments of presence, where we may have emotional, physical or intellectual responses to the Spirit’s presence.
- Scripture
- The Bible is the divinely-inspired word of God, and as such we place a high importance on the stories, poetry, laws and teachings contained within this ancient library of God-breathed words. Scripture teaches us, helps us to see God in new ways, and draws us to Him.
- Mission
- The work of the Church is now the Mission of God. The Anglical Communion helpful sets this mission out as having five dimensions:
- To proclaim the Good News of the Kingdom
- To teach, baptise and nurture new believers
- To respond to human need by loving service
- To transform unjust structures of society, to challenge violence of every kind and pursue peace and reconciliation
- To strive to safeguard the integrity of creation, and sustain and renew the life of the earth
- The work of the Church is now the Mission of God. The Anglical Communion helpful sets this mission out as having five dimensions:
Women in Leadership
We believe that all people are created equal in the image of God.
We believe God gives leadership in the church on the basis of grace, calling, spiritual gifts, obedience, and character.
We believe both women and men can and should lead, preach, pastor, and minister within the church. We believe that everyone doing this together will result in a more robust ministry of love and grace than one gender can sustain alone.
We believe women and men can and should serve in pastoral leadership in the local church.
Christ Church believes that men and women are equally gifted and qualified to lead and serve as co-laborers in the church. We do not simply permit, but expressly value, the presence of all people, regardless of gender, in these various facets of church leadership, including the role of elder.
